15 Bars & Yoga on the Bay

Saturday was a rough night of sleep, I thought I’d be tired enough to get a good nights rest — instead I was up at 2:30am, 4:30am & finally 5:15am when I just decided to give-up.  The good ol’ “Time Zone Rodeo” I get to play while traveling!  I headed to the hotel gym as it was still dark & knocked out 2 rounds of this Incline Walking Circuit from Julie at PBFingers & a ton of form rolling!

The hotel gym is pretty decent (they all start to run together so I was confused as to which one this actually was until I saw it) & I spent the 40-minutes of walking watching “4 Wedding’s” on TLC.  Not only were the TV’s on each machine nice, the lady walking around with ice-cold towels & wine water were also welcome.  I’m going to see if she’ll come home with me!  I headed to the grocery store to grab breakfast & stopped at the nearby Lion Coffee shop for a jolt of Americano.  Breakfast ended up being Fage, berries & some smashed Easy Paleo Pumpkin bread.  There’s no fridge in my hotel room so luckily the grocery store is close by for daily breakfast runs.

The exhibit hall was dullsville slow yesterday so I got a chance to get caught-up on work & peruse valuable time sucks information like Greatist’s list of “25 Health & Fitness Resources You May Have Missed“.  Yes, this is how I spent my yesterday,

…this & talking to physicians in an exhibit hall…the verdict?  Apparently we have to wait until next week to find out “Will the Shake Weight Work?“.  It’s going to be a rough go until then.

Post-exhibit hall boredom, I wandered down to the Bay to get my yoga on.  One of my October Goals was to practice yoga once a week.  What better time than on the gorgeous San Diego Bay after standing all day!  This slideshow from FitSugar caught my eye the other day; “Postwork Yoga Sequence“.  These moves along with a lot of downward dogs & vinyasas helped me through a 30-minute sequence.  Check out the views I was workin’ with…not too shabby!

Post-Zen; I decided to brave a party the association was throwing.  Typically I avoid these sorts of things like the plague but I figured I’d go check it out & see what kind of cocktails they had to offer.  It was MASSIVE & kind of reminded me of a Wedding Reception pool party…

There were tons of food stations setup & FIFTEEN bars!  Luckily the food was more popular than the booze so getting a few glasses of wine was not an issue.  The food looked decent but I wanted to sit & relax not around a bunch of people I might have to talk about work with.  I ended up at the hotel Tequila Bar & Grill for some amazing ceviche & a lobster & shrimp salad.  I honestly think I could eat this salad for the rest of my life, it was awesome!

I was so wiped by 8pm that my eyes were heavy with wine sleep so I decided to give in & head to bed.  Enter another night of crappy sleep last night — delightful!  I got a restless 8 hours so decided to get up & hit the gym.  I did the “KettleBell Blast” along with some sprints & was sweating like whoa by the end.  Love some chilled towels at the hotel gym though!

It’s almost time to giddy up & get this 10th day of work in a row started; the exhibit hall opens in an hour.  This email from Greatist just popped into my inbox — “Stretches All Desk Workers Should Do Today” — so, no excuses, do some of these today to better your health!

Happy Monday…How was YOUR weekend?  What’s the longest stretch you’ve worked without a day off?  Do you stretch at your desk?
