Wear Your Helmet D-Bag

Hiya!  Happy Wednesday!  This is a short week for me since I was off Monday but it still feels as if the days are dragging!  Heat?  Work-induced boredom?  Pick your culprit!

After my Monday Funday wrapped up, I hit the hay early & woke-up Tuesday am to tackle some sprints on the treadmill.  Some other folks in the blog community (Sweet Tooth Court) have been raving about Kodiak Cakes pancake mix so I grabbed some at Target & whipped up a batch for breakfast on Tuesday.  I tossed in some frozen berries & topped the whole shebang w/ some cottage cheese for extra protein.

Verdict; they were pretty dang good…Nutrition Stats aren’t bad either; per 1/3 cup mix prepared with water; 130 calories, 1g fat, 27g carbs, 4g dietary fiber, 2g sugar & 7g protein.  They kept me full all morning until it was time for lunch.  I’ve been loving a junkyard salad lately since it’s hot as hell here.  Check out this madness from lunch yesterday…yummm!

I would tell you what’s in there but I honestly don’t remember & you probably don’t care all that much anyway!

After work on Tuesday I needed to clear my mucky brain & get some fresh air so I hit Forest Park for a quick jaunt.

It was nice in the shade & I took a few pics from my somewhat serene walk (read below for the un-serene part).

Here’s the douchebag filled interesting part of my walk.  As I was on a quiet path I heard a biker come up behind me & mention “On your left”, so I proceeded to get out of his way & replied to his “thanks” with a “you’re welcome”.  Well apparently my “you’re welcome” was code for “Please wait for me at the next clearing to creepily hit on me”…who knew?!?!  ”Ron” (as he introduced himself) with the terrible goatee & white Oakley shades circa 1990 proceeded to chat me up while I was walking.  He was not wearing a bike-helmet which is a big stupid move in my book.  So I asked him where his helmet was & he said “Oh, I’m VERY careful!”.  Really Ron, really???  So I told him “I’m sure you are, but all it takes is one time to fall & bust your head open, good luck & have a nice ride.”  Cut to Ron getting mad & cycling off.  I hope Ron wasn’t too pissed at me….oh wait, I don’t give a shit rats a$$!

After ditching Ron I cooked up some kale, sugar-snap peas, sweet potato & garlic-chicken sausage & tossed it with coconut oil for dinner last night.  It was almost too warm to eat, but I was starving so just sweat a bit while eating so ate it anyway.

After dinner I watched this train wreck of hoes on the season finale of “Real Housewives of Orange County“:

They were gettin’ all kinds of bat-$hit-crazy last night!  Better them than me!  I wanted something sweet while watching tv so I whipped up some “Mock Fro-Yo”…it was pretty tasty.  Into the mix went; .5c greek yogurt, 1tbsp. cocoa powder, some stevia, stir & freeze for about an hour & enjoy!

This morning started off with an 45-minute TRX Workout followed by 15-minutes of intervals on the stair mill (aka the machine from the depths of hell, that thing is hard!).  It is supposed to be delightful here the rest of the week…are you kidding???

Oh, and now for something meaningful as opposed to the rest of this post which is just me rambling; with the London Summer Olympics right around the corner, I noticed an interesting article the other day from swimmer Garrett Weber-Gale where he talks about nutrition.  It really proves that performance is enhanced by eating healthy.  You can read the article here.  Gale also has a blog; “Athletic Foodie” which has some fun stuff!  Enjoy!

Questions: Do you mind extreme heat or extreme cold more?  What’s your favorite Summer Olympic Sport to watch?
